Elvis Presley in Concert (2025)

Documentary/Music
Rated 12A

“People can stay home and hear you sing, but when they pay their money to come out and see you in a personal experience, they come out to see some action.”

From Big Bazzy L, as he probably doesn't like being called, the Director of Romeo + Juliet and Elvis, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is a tribute to the singer, personality and performer who was Elvis Presley. I have to say, while a problematic person yahyahyah, I hadn’t realised quite how much I love Elvis the musician until the film Elvis.

Baz Luhrmann has constructed EPiC as a documentary of Elvis footage, music and interviews. I put EPiC on thinking it’d be essentially an extra on the Elvis DVD upsold as its own thing. DVDs are disks which get into the TV by magic by the way, kids.

If you want to watch Elvis Presley in Concert, put it on your best soundsystem, turn off the lights and fling your phone out the fucking window. This is a show first, documentary second. Think of EPiC as a greatest hits, remastered visually and with some exposition laid over. Even that does it a disservice. Colourful, entertaining, rousing, fun. It’ll make you want to sing.

If you’re expecting any introspection or critical examination jump out of the window after your phone and bitch on Twitter. Elvis Presley in Concert is all about cellebrating the art of performance.

Bedsit it?

Oh my god, Elvis’ voice, I was never there for it, yet still it sinks in so deep in this film. Powerful, masculine and beautiful. He’s so charismatic and such a natural singer, an outrageous talent who remains timeless. I have watched Elvis Presley in Concert three times; that’s beyond abnormal for me. 10/10

Music! I don't like all of it but here's a lot of fun in some reviews!...
